Merryspring Nature Park
It's easy to drive past the sign for Merryspring as you negotiate busy Rt. 1 in Camden. A mile of narrow twisting road leads you away from the busy highway to a quiet setting in the coastal woods. Merryspring is a nature and garden park esablished in 1974 by Mary Ellen and Ervin Ross (past owners of nearby Merry Gardens greenhouse). Consisting of over 60 acres of groomed walking trails, open fields, display gardens and an arboretum, the property offers an escape from the crowded downtown. The display gardens include a large herb garden, a rose garden and a childrens garden. The recently added Ross Center building houses a library, office area and meeting space for lectures and workshops held at the park. Classes are held year-round, and Merryspring holds several fairs and plant sales each year as well. Open every day from dawn to dusk, the park is free to visit. Leased dogs are allowed.
