Johnny's is a mail order seed company located in the central part of Maine. Selling vegetable, flower and herb seeds, as well as gardening accessories, the business was founded over 30 years ago and is now transitioning to an employee-owned company. Johnny's sells seed in all 50 states and to many countries around the world. The main office/warehouse building is located in Winslow. A retail store where customers may place orders for pickup is also located in Winslow. The research and trial farm in Albion was the orginal site of the company, where a large barn was the center of operations for decades.

Customers of Johnny's may be familiar with the company's dedication to high quality products and technical information. This dedication is obvious when one visits the large trial farm located in Albion. Each seed variety is grown in trial before a decision is made whether to add it to the catalog. This allows the research farm staff to evaluate the color, flavor, vigor and yield of the variety, instead of just buying it from a catalog like many other seed companies do. Visitors to the farm will see acres of vegetable, flower and herb trials, which are in their full glory during July and August. A guided tour is highly recommended (call for details on times), but self guided tour maps are available at the farm. A visit to Johnny's should be included in every plant lover's visit to Maine.
